VOTE: Jackson, Tennessee Nominated for Best City for Street Art by USA Today

In 2024, the City of Jackson and Our Jackson Home, began a partnership to develop public art in Jackson and breathe new life into their public spaces. This partnership came after Dr. Shawn Pitts was hired to be the public art consultant for the City of Jackson, and recommended a five year strategic plan to grow the City of Jackson's public art collection. Through the new public art program, the City and Our Jackson Home are collectively laying the foundation for a more vibrant, connected, and culturally rich community, where artists take the lead on showcasing the stories of Jackson in our shared spaces. Jackson's quickly growing public art scene is now receiving national recognition through their recent USA Today 10 Best nomination. 

Throughout the year, there are many ways that students in and near Madison County can get involved in the public art process in Jackson. Many public art projects facilitated by Our Jackson Home require community volunteers to assist in the installation process. Our Jackson Home welcomes all people, regardless of their past art experience, to sign up to be a public art volunteer!
